Emily Hayes received her MA in English Literature from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale and continued post graduate work in creative writing at SIUC and Quincy University. She teaches American literature at Carbondale Community High School and is the poetry editor for The Village Pariah. Her works have previously appeared or are forthcoming in various journals, including Paterson Literary Review, Naugatuck River Review, and Broad River Review.
